Yes on Prop 50
Proposition 50, the Election Rigging Response Act, will be decided by California voters on November 4, 2025. As the name implies, Proposition 50 will respond to President Trump and the GOP blatantly tilting the 2026 midterm elections in their favor by re-drawing congressional districts in Texas and other Republican-led states. These new maps, at Trump’s request, were explicitly drawn to concentrate Democratic strongholds in just a few districts and while giving Republicans a majority in all others.
Proposition 50 would approve “temporary, emergency congressional district maps” for California that are designed to give Democrats an equal and opposite advantage to Texas in the upcoming midterm elections. The maps would only go into effect if Texas Republicans follow through with their plan to gerrymander their congressional districts, and, if implemented, would only last until 2030, after which the state would revert back to independent redistricting for the congressional district maps.
A Democratic majority in congress is one of the few things that could put a check on Trump’s power. Barring opposition from congress, the Trump regime will continue silencing dissent, disappearing civilians, and militarily occupying cities he doesn’t like. What you can do
- Vote YES on Prop 50 on or before November 4
- Talk to friends and family to make sure they know about this special election and are voting as well.
- We need volunteers to go door-to-door (or, if it’s easier for you, phone-to-phone) to let voters know about the election. The success or failure of Prop 50 will be determined by voter turnout, especially in democratic strongholds like Alameda county.
